Drainage Holes Guidelines

Proper drainage is crucial for the health of your plants and the longevity of your Jay Scotts fiberglass planters. When you place your order, we offer to create drainage holes on all fiberglass planters free of charge to ensure they perform optimally in any environment.

Why is Proper Drainage so Important?

  • Prevents water accumulation that can cause planter damage and affect plant health.
  • Ensures water does not freeze and expand in colder climates, which can cause
    excessive expansion of the planter.
  • Helps maintain the structural integrity of large planters, preventing warping.

Our Drainage Standards:

  • We create 1-2" drainage holes every 12 inches of planter space.
  • Larger planters require more holes; for instance, a 60-inch planter needs at least 4-5
    holes.
  • These standards help manage water from rain, over-watering, and inclement weather.

Recommendations for Self-Drilling:

If you prefer to create your own drainage holes, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Drill 1-2" holes every 12 inches of planter space.
  • Account for environmental factors such as rainfall and irrigation.
  • For large or commercial installations, professional consultation is advised to ensure
    proper drainage.

* Planters with drainage holes are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
